Short: Hillsfar Character Editor Uploader: amigansoftware@gmail.com (James Jacobs) Author: amigansoftware@gmail.com (James Jacobs) Type: game/edit Requires: OS3.5+ Version: 1.0a Architecture: m68k-amigaos >= 3.5.0 This is a ReAction-based program for friendly editing (hacking) of Hillsfar (version 1.0 was tested) character files (#?.HIL). Since the Curse of the Azure Bonds game supports importing (and exporting) characters from (and to) Hillsfar, it can also be useful for that game. It works with Amiga and IBM-PC (MS-DOS) character files, and can convert between those platforms. It can be run from CLI or Workbench. Usage is as follows: 1> HCE [[FILE] ] [AMIGA|IBM] The default format is AMIGA. StormC 4 source code is included. The interface was created using the ReActor tool. (Note that if you are going to develop this software you should move or copy the images/ directory so that it is inside the source/ directory, to keep StormC and ReActor happy.) The program allows considerable freedom to make alterations to the characters; thus, discretion is advised. Don't forget to save your character before quitting the program if you want to keep the changes you have made. Usage is reasonably straightforward. You must supply an existing character file (#?.HIL) from Hillsfar for editing (an example file is provided). Note that you should use a filename which is no more than 8 characters, not including the ".HIL" extension, otherwise the game will not be able to load the character. (The convention used by the game is to use the first 8 characters of the character name, but this is not strictly required.) When playing Hillsfar, you can press 'F' to force locks. Also, there is a map available from the site. 1.0a: Mon 1 Feb 2010. 1.0: Sun 5 Jul 2009.
