Game Help

Fokker Triplane

When pointer is visible, game is paused.
Click mouse anywhere except menus to unpause.
Steer with mouse. The crosshair will indicate up/down and left/right by its position relative to the central point.
Above the steering area is shown the direction of the triplane with respect to the ground.
Fire by clicking or holding the mousebutton.
Apparently the landing gear is not retractable.
The game will run much more smoothly if you run it at full speed (ie. uncheck the "Special|Limit Speed" menu item of Mini VMac).

Controls are as follows:

1-6 thrust
A left view
C toggle cockpit on/off
D another view
E rudder right
P pause (pointer will reappear)
W forward view
Q rudder left
R reset rudder
S right view
X another view?
Y reset yaw
Z rear view

Mac Manager

At Manager level, there are only three decisions which need to be made each turn: Price, Production and Marketing.

At Strategist level, there are an additional two decisions: Plant Investment increases production capacity, while Research and Development reduces unit cost produced (ie. the cost of manufacturing each widget).

All decisions are made from the Decisions window. All other windows are for informational purposes only.

Emulator Compatibility Issues

Airborne: Sometimes there is momentary corruption of the player graphics.
Dark Castle 2: This game requires setting MacOS to 2-colour mode.
GATO: Hangs when quitting. Must be booted from floppy.
Ultima 3: The files must be in the root directory.

The faults listed above may not be due to problems with the emulators, but rather seem to be bugs in the programming of the games.

Compatibility by emulator:

Airborne!, Dark Castle 1, Dungeon of Doom, GATO, Ground Zero, Transylvania 1 & 2, Ultima 3: Mini VMac 2.7.1
Dark Castle 2, Fokker Triplane, Lode Runner 1, Mac Manager: either

Mini VMac 2.7.1 is using a 128K ROM and is running MacOS 6.0.3 (except where noted).
Basilisk ][ 0.8 for Windows NT (build 130) is using a 512K ROM and is running MacOS 7.5.5.
